Alice Meissner is a Partner in the Vienna office of Fieldfisher, where she heads the Austrian Dispute Practice team. She specializes in international arbitration, international trade and supply contracts as well as corporate law and foreign direct investments. Alice frequently serves as lead counsel in international commercial arbitration proceedings under the rules of the ICC, VIAC, and CIETAC, and also represents clients in investor-state arbitration matters including representing intra-EU investors with proceedings involving the European Commission. In addition to her expertise in inbound foreign direct investment, she is also known for her expertise in cross-border enforcement issues.

Alice has acted as an independent arbitrator in proceedings conducted under the ICC, VIAC as well as UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. She is listed as an arbitrator with VIAC and HKIAC and is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators (FHKIArb). She also serves on the Panel of Arbitrators of the Xi’an Arbitration Commission (XAAC) and currently holds the position of Chair of the European Chinese Arbitrators Association.

With over 12 years of experience, Alice has advised numerous publicly listed multinational corporations in the sectors of energy and natural resources, automotive, manufacturing and construction.

She is dual-admitted to the Austrian Bar Association and the Munich Bar Association. Alice holds a Ph.D. (Dr.) in Austrian corporate law from the University of Vienna. She majored in international public law during her undergraduate studies. Alice is author of numerous publications in commercial and investor-state arbitration.

In addition to English and German, she speaks fluent Cantonese, conversational Mandarin Chinese, and is well-positioned to advise clients across diverse legal and cultural contexts.
