Juan Eduardo has over 30 years of experience in dispute resolution, primarily serving as an arbitrator in disputes relating to construction contracts, energy, real estate, public works concessions, and corporate disputes in general (M&A, shareholder agreements, and joint ventures) in over 130 arbitrations in Latin America, particularly in Chile, Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay, and Bolivia. He holds a degree in Law and Social Sciences from the University of Chile, Santiago, Chile.
He also holds a Master’s degree in International Law, Trade, Investment, and International Arbitration from the University of Heidelberg, Germany; a Diploma in the Legal Framework for Public Works Concessions from the Universidad del Desarrollo, Santiago, Chile; and a Master’s degree in Economics and Management for Lawyers (MEGA) from the Universidad Gabriela Mistral, Santiago, Chile.
He currently works as an independent arbitrator and consultant, issuing legal reports on matters within his field. He has worked for several decades in the real estate, infrastructure, energy, and construction sectors, providing legal advice and serving as a director of real estate, construction, service, and hotel and tourism companies. He has also served as a substitute judge or member of the Supreme Court of Chile.
He also has experience serving as Chairman of Dispute Boards, particularly in the mining construction industry in Chile, and as a mediator in commercial disputes involving corporate and construction matters.
Juan Eduardo is President of the Legislation Committee of the Chilean Chamber of Construction. He has served as legal advisor to ACOP – National Chamber of Real Estate Services AG. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
He is a founding partner and former vice president of the Chilean Society of Construction Law; a fellow of the International Academy of Construction Lawyers; a member of the Latin American Group of the ICC; a former counselor of the Chilean Bar Association and the Interamerican Bar Association; a member of the Spanish and Ibero-American Arbitration Club; and the CChC representative before the Civil Society Council of the Comptroller General’s Office.
Juan Eduardo has been recognized by the prestigious Chambers Latin America rankings: Most in Demand Arbitrators and in real estate as Senior Statespeople; in the Lexology index (formerly Who’s Who Legal): recommended in Arbitration and as Global Elite Thought Leader in Construction; in Leaders League: Arbitration, and in Best Lawyers, international arbitration.

He is also a member of the Dispute Boards of the Santiago Arbitration and Mediation Center and the Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce of Lima, Peru.
