Maxime Berlingin is a Partner and Head of the Dispute Resolution Practice at Fieldfisher Belgium and Luxembourg.

He has extensive experience in both domestic and international commercial arbitration, acting as counsel and arbitrator.

As counsel, Maxime represents Belgian and international clients in a broad range of disputes, including contractual conflicts, shareholder disputes, real estate matters, and sports law-related cases.

He also advises on the enforcement and annulment of national and international arbitral awards before Belgian and Luxembourgish courts. In this context, he has assisted international clients both in seeking to enforce arbitral awards in Belgium and Luxembourg, and in opposing enforcement actions.

Maxime regularly serves as arbitrator in institutional and ad hoc proceedings.

He chairs the Benelux Arbitration and ADR Group, which brings together leading arbitration practitioners from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. He is a member of the Board of Directors of CEPANI (the Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation) and the Luxembourg Arbitration Association (LAA), and contributes to several task forces of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. He was also a member of the Task Force responsible for revising Part Six of the Belgian Judicial Code on Arbitration.

Maxime is listed as an arbitrator by the Belgian Court of Arbitration for Sport (CBAS/BAS), the Belgian Centre for Sports Arbitration (C-SAR), the Paris Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (CMAP), and the Arbitration Center of the GICAM (Cameroon).

Until September 2025, Maxime was a professor of Contract Law and ADR at the Faculty of Law of Saint-Louis University – Brussels and regularly publishes on topics related to contract law, corporate law, and arbitration.

Maxime has been ranked in the Who’s Who Legal – Arbitration guide, listed in the “Dispute Resolution in Belgium” section by Legal 500, Chambers Global, and Chambers Europe, and named a “Rising Star” in the “Best Arbitrators in Belgium” category by Leaders League.

He was also featured among the “10 Influential Dispute Resolution Lawyers Dominating Belgium’s Litigation Landscape” by Business Today.

Maxime is a native French speaker and is fluent in English and Dutch.
