Mihaela is an experienced arbitration practitioner, with expertise in intellectual property, M&A, financing, oil & gas, construction and environmental matters. She has acted as counsel under the ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, VIAC, WIPO and CICA Rules.

Mihaela sits as arbitrator with the Court of International Commercial Arbitration attached to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CICA) and VIAC. She receives appointments in commercial arbitrations. She is also an experienced domain name panellist with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center of Geneva where she solved over 300 disputes.

Named a Future Leader in Arbitration – Partners Chapter for 2018-2021 by WWL and GAR. Ranked as a Global Leader in Arbitration for the 2022-2026 edition. Featured in the 2017 and 2022-2025 editions as Who’s Who in Trademarks (now Lexology).

Mihaela is currently undergoing PhD studies in international arbitration – Bucharest and she is also acting as editor with the Romanian Arbitration Journal.

Selected Assignments

  • Represented a Romanian state entity in an ICC arbitration initiated by the concessionaire of offshore gas fields over amounts due under the concession agreement.
  • Represented a Romanian project company (subsidiary of a large Canadian company acting in the field of exploration and production of oil and gas at international level) in a dispute concerning amounts owed under a production enhancement services agreement of nine mature oil fields of Romania.
  • Member of the Romanian law team representing the Romanian State in complex investment cases under the ICSID Rules concerning: the termination of a privatisation agreement (ARB/10/13), investments in the alcohol market (ARB/14/29), a mining concession (ARB/15/31).
  • Assisted and represented a large and well-known Czech retailer of furniture, home appliance, interior and exterior decoration and other household products in an WIPO expedited arbitration with the seat in Vienna.
  • Solved over 300 disputes under the UDRP Rules as a panelist with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Centre in Geneva.
  • Solved numerous commercial disputes under the CICA (Court of International Commercial Arbitration attached to the Romanian Chamber of Commerce of Romania) and VIAC (Viena International Arbitral Center) Rules, as co-arbitrator, sole arbitrator or presiding arbitrator.
